Pubs around the ground
I'm popping my London Stadium cherry this weekend. I fancy watching Cardiff vs Newcastle before and Chelsea vs Arsenal after.

Any tips for any decent places to watch the matches before and after?

Cheers.

The Secret Pub in Stratford that our group drink in is still a secret. Have never once seen it mentioned on here. Long may that continue.

is the little driver a west ham pub, or just a nice place for slurps before the match?

drank in the Queens Head for pretty much the whole of the first season. Found myself in the area when we were playing Spurs in the cup last season, popped in there to watch the game, they had some gaelic football crap on most of the screens with the volume up and the West Ham game on one small screen with no volume. When the yids scored both their goals to go 2 nil up all the bar staff were celebrating the 2 faced cunts, walked out and went the Black Bull to watch the rest of the game, havnt and will never set foot in the Queens Head again

Wrong queen - elrow is on in Queen Liz Park - and there's 25,000+ of them!

____ 25000 spangled clubbers; 50000 gnarly west ham, 30 yout's out for a saturday stabbing session...what could possibly go wrong ;-)

Pub Bigot
The Queens Head; is that the one on West Ham Lane? Ain't that a Celtic pub?

The brewery has taken it back, no more diddly music. had a redec and prices are cheaper than spoons. NO real ale.

The Little Driver is the best by a mile, yeah you have to hop on DLR to PML but that only takes 5 mins & you're bang in the Olympic park, anywhere else is a hike, the carpenters gets too busy & is often full of knobs..

___

agreed, however dont tell everyone ;-)

be aware that Elrow is on tomorrow in queen vic park - whats that you say? 10,000 spangled clubbers from 12 Pm so expect hackney wick and the establishments up that end to be banging busy...

Shim, that's a good shout.

Avoid the The Plough on Fish Island. Very hipster, no atmosphere, no screens and the only reason I drink in there is because it's convenient for my mates.

Re: Pubs around the ground
Incidentally I really like the boozers around Poplar & Chrisp St market, just by all saints DLR before the game, convenient for Maureen's pie & mash or the Eastenders one, then you have Callagahns, the festival inn & the masons arms all close to each other which are all proper traditional east end boozers, still only 10 mins from PML DLR from there, for some reason our support hasn't cottoned on to this area at all, so if you like to avoid the crowds, the boozers & pie & mash places are all busy enough but not heaving so you can get a seat, jukebox, have a chat without yelling, game of pool, this area ain't a bad shout..

Re: Pubs around the ground
It can be a bit hipster, not to bad after the match for a couple of hours but from about 9/10pm the beards & dungarees start taking over & that's just the birds...

Re: Pubs around the ground
Around hackney wicke they tend to be more of the old Victorian converted warehouse, micro brewery type thing. I don't mind it & it makes a change now & again, Howling Hops, Crate & Micks Garage are all in the same courtyard & decent enough, likely to have DJs on after the match, think funky house music rather than sweet Caroline though....

Re: Pubs around the ground
Can anyone recommend any good boozers around Hackney Wick please? Got to be that way for a party Saturday night so thought we might drink around there after the game.
